TurboID and MiniTurbo are two engineered, promiscuous mutants of biotin ligase, BirA, which can label near-neighbor proteins with biotin substrate. As one of the Enzyme-catalyzed proximity labeling (PL) technologies, TurboID and miniturbo are widely used to study the spatial and interaction characteristics of proteins in living cells due to their non-toxicity and greater catalytic efficiency. |
